Computational Molecular Biology

The Hebrew University

School of Computer Science & Engineering

Introduction

The computational biology laboratory in the School of Computer Science and Engineering consists of several faculty members and students.

Research in the lab applies methods from machine learning, theory of computer science, combinatorial optimization, information theory and applied statistics for a wide range of problems in computational molecular biology.

This includes analysis, clustering, and classification of DNA and protein sequences; analysis of gene expression patterns for uncovering regulatory pathways, and for relating phenotype to mRNA expression; phylogentic inference; understanding protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions.
